The idea of truth - socially divisive? Freedom and free will just an illusion? Our understanding of morality undermined by authoritarian concepts? 

 

Towards Consensus examines how interactional and semantic mechanisms foster division and conflict—and how cooperation and collective agency can instead be grounded in subjectivity, embodied self-determination, and mutual coordination.

 

Drawing on philosophy, psychology, and linguistic analysis, the authors develop an innovative alternative to dualist language and authoritarian moral standards. Rather than deriving social values from abstract principles or external norms, they reconceptualize moral orientation as a relational, consensus-based process that emerges within lived social experience.

In doing so, Consensus clarifies the philosophical foundations of social cohesion, offering a clear framework for more constructive and empathetic communication in times of tension and division.
