Florian Hoffmeier (Dr) is a Berlin born psychiatrist and filmmaker working at the intersection of mental health, applied philosophy, and cultural fields of tension.
His debut short film AFUERA was screened at international festivals and received, among other recognitions, the Best Experimental Short Award at the Berlin Short Film Festival 2023.​
Alongside his clinical and artistic work, he is the author of the forthcoming book

which investigates philosophical foundations of moral communication and linguistic coordination.

After studying Medicine in Germany, Portugal and Brazil, he completed a doctorate at Goethe University Frankfurt in the field of Social, Occupational, and Environmental Medicine. He has also been working in clinical research and child- and adolescent psychiatry.

His artistic work is informed by a long-standing background in dance and experimental theatre, and is addressing questions of conflict, power dynamics, and collective empowerment.
His cultural work has received public funding and critical recognition. It involved collaborations with institutions such as the GandhiServe Foundation, the German Association for Socio-Cultural Work (VskA) and the Centre for Arts & Sciences Montevideo.
